This is a low growing early bush variety, with numerous small round and intense red fruits. The solanaceae par excellence, it was brought from South America and Mexico. This variety has 2cm diameter fruits, generally used fresh in salads. They’re perfect for a sweet nibble, or with mozzarella, basil and a little olive oil as a starter.
This favourite grows to height of 70 to 80cm, has small medium-green leaves and triangular pointed fruits. Pungency (0-10): 0 in 90% of the fruits and 8 in 10%, you never know which you’ll get! This variety is from Chile, though it originated in Mexico and was brought to Europe by Franciscano de Herbón in the 16th Century. Make one of Spain’s favourite tapa by gently frying in a little olive oil with a sprinkle of Maldon salt.
